There is a good information on the Ruby E wreck on DiveBums and on the California Wreckdivers site. The California Wreckdivers website contains several photographs of the wreck and a good historical account.

There are currently (as of October 2005) two mooring buoys on the Ruby E, one attached to the bow and one to the stern. The wreck is listing slightly to her starboard side which exposes the port side propeller and rudder - this can change depending on the conditions as it can be covered and re-exposed with sand. The wreck is mostly intact although some sections, notably the cabin area, shows deterioation., The condition of the wreck can be seen in the video on the right, which was taken October 1, 2005.

This dive is well within the realm of recreational diving limits and is a hot-house for nudibranchs, Corynactis californica (strawberry anemones) as well as many species of fish - great for those who like to take macro photography. There are some areas you can penetrate like the engine room, cabin area and pilot house; however, there has been deterioation over the years and there may be sharp, rusted edges.
