There are two parts to this gallery. Gallery ONE is made up of short video clips or a single footage of specific organisms or subject. Gallery TWO is dedicated to video compositions and are typically of dive trips or of other specific subject matters. These compositions may require more time editing than the short clips; however, these are the most enjoyable for me as it allows me to 're-live' the dives. There are also videos under these galleries which appear under relevant Dive Sites pages.

All these videos are captured on MiniDV using a Sony DCR-PC120 camera in an Ocean Images housings with dual 10 W HIDs as my light source when necessary. Typically, the visibility in Southern California is 10-20 feet with much particulates in the water. Because of this good lights with long arms are often necessary to get useful footage. The dual 10W HID lights I use are only good for macro video as they do not penetrate much further than 2-3 feet with full color spectrum, therefore most of the video where the use of these lights is apparent is of macro videography and not of wide angle shots. However, there are days when the visibility is outstanding and there is plenty of ambient light to capture great video footage.

Although this camera is not ideal for DVD quality video, I have been happy with the results and the relatively small size of the system, especially for creating video to share over the internet.

I hope you enjoy the videos!
